Amir Khan’s Dangal beats Salman Khan’s box office record – in three days earns Rs. 106 crores
Dangal, which gave Aamir Khan sleepless nights and anxiety, has proved to be one of the biggest success of Bollywood beating Salman Khan‘s box office record. Salman Khan‘s Sultan held the previous record at Rs. 39 crores. On Sunday, Aamir Khan‘s Dangal made 42.35 crores, breaking all the records for highest single day earning. Dangal was released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and the collection is from all three languages.
The film is a biopic of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat who trained his daughters Geeta and Babita in the sport against all odds. Gita fulfilled all his dreams and won India’s first ever gold medal in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games, in 2010. She also became the first-ever Indian woman wrestler to have qualified for the Olympics.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted on Monday a day-wise breakup of Dangal‘s box office figures.

Dangal had a great opening and garnered fabulous reviews and ratings on the day of release, 23rd December. According to critics, Dangal is Aamir‘s career’s best film. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra as Geet and Babita Phogat. The popular television star Sakshi Tanwar plays Aamir‘s on screen wife Daya.
