Shahrukh Khan Says, ‘Why should I compare Raees’s collections to Dangal or Sultan?’
It was the celebration of Shahrukh Khan‘s Raees in JW Marriot, Mumbai. King Khan arrived in a jeep with Raees‘s cast spreading his charm like he does in the movie. It was a filmi entry, in his style, like his train journey, like his interaction with his fans on social media to promote the film, the way he spices up everything. His fans have waited for a long time for this film. The film has been in the making for a long time, then it show a glimpse and disappeared. A trailer came out, teased and than it had been stalled for a year. But then it saw the big release on 25th January, Shahrukh compensated his fans. He went that extra mile saving the film from smelling stale, the excitement was there, he did everything to hype it. He risked a train journey, there was chaos and then the release came and the fans gave a thumbs up, and the nod meant it was worth the wait.
“It’s been two and a half years since (producer) Ritesh Sidhwani and (director) Rahul Dholakia came to with Raees. I am happy it has released well and that everybody has liked it,” says Shahrukh Khan. From where he learnt all these business skills. SRK says”This we have learnt from this Sindhi papad, Ritesh (Sidhwani) is our businessman. I don’t know business; I have just made the film. He has done the business part of it.” His producer Ritesh Sidhwani says, there is no better better businessman than Shahrukh.
“Yes, I don’t know acting, I only know how to do business,” smiles Shahrukh.
“The idea of business in this film is do whatever is good for the business but don’t harm anyone in the process. We should apply that in our lives too.” – Shahrukh Khan
Well, does he really believe so? Hrithik Roshan’s Kabbil seemed like a bit of collateral damage. Trade analysts say, Kaabil would have done much better if Raees would not have released on the same day. But then, no one knows what went between negotiations and conspired.
On box office comparison King Khan says he won’t like to compare.
“Every film has its own business. We can’t start comparing. It is not right to measure all the films in the same way. But having said that, this film has its own business and at this point of time, it is better than what we had imagined. Why should I compare it with the last big hit like Dangal or Sultan, which are much bigger hits than perhaps this film can ever be? We know that. We know this film has a limit and it can’t go beyond that.” – Shahrukh Khan
When Nawazuddin was asked how he felt killing him on screen, he said, “I felt very bad.”
Shah Rukh promptly replied, “It did not feel like he was feeling bad. I told him many times Nawaz bhai, thoda dookhi dikhna but he said no.”
Nawaz then said, “I felt bad because just before shooting him, he was on another level. It was a great moment and I wanted to see him like that for some more time. I shot him earlier (than I wanted to).”
In the film, Raees Alam is a don, who becomes a politician. So will Shahrukh ever join politics in real life?
“I am acting and producing films, what more do you want me to do? If I do everything, I will die,” Shah Rukh said, sounding irritated. “I don’t know that job, I don’t want to do learn or do it. For the last time, I am a hero, an actor. It has been 25 years proving I am an actor.”
